Twelve years later and little has changed: TDCC are as big as ever. As a result of their success, singer Alex Trimble was even selected to sing at the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony. Bops like 'What You Know', 'Undercover Martyn' and 'You Can Talk' had snippets constantly played on our television screens and they'd become favourites at many a nightclub to rival the musings of The Killers and Arctic Monkeys. By 2012, it felt like their tunes were everywhere. Not bad for three guys who initially had the mickey taken out of them by the music press for their perceived geek-chic, librarian personas. Over the next couple of years, they'd establish themselves as one of the most in demand bands in the indie scene, both in the Europe and North America. #2 DOOR CINEMA CLUB I CAN TALK TV#
"Undercover Martyn" featured on a tv advert and on the soundtrack the video games Gran Turismo 5 while "I Can Talk" is featured on the videogames FIFA 11 & NBA 2K11. They released 2 singles from the album, "I Can Talk" and "Undercover Martyn". Tourist History, the band's debut album, was released worldwide in early 2010 and was followed with worldwide tours, including a US tour supporting Phoenix, and an appearance at Australia's Splendour In The Grass festival. In December of 2009 the band was featured in the BBC's Sound Of 2010 Poll. Soon after, Two Door Cinema Club was working on their debut album at a recording studio in London. They released their first EP titled Four Words To Stand on in 2009, which was well received and followed it with the release of the single "Something Good Can Work", which featured in a television advertisement. They set up a myspace page which started gaining a lot of interest and the trio decided to quit their University degrees to focus on music. The band's name came about after Halliday mispronounced the name of the local cinema, Tudor Cinema, and it stuck. Highschool friends Alex Trimble and Sam Halliday were out on the town when they met Kevin Baird who was trying to get with some girls they knew. They soon found a common interest in music and started writing songs. Hailing from Northern Ireland, Two Door Cinema Club formed in 2007.
